Packaging guideline

MULAG has set itself the goal to utilize reusable packaging. Therefore, we generally demand the utilization of reusable packaging from our partners. Where this is not economically feasible, we have to switch to disposable packaging. These must be recyclable and disposable without any effort.

Disposable packaging

Disposable packaging is intended for single use. After usage, they are sent for recycling. Care must be taken to ensure that the packaging consists of recyclable packaging materials.  Filler and cushioning materials (polystyrene, plastic, foil packaging, oiled paper, etc.) must not be used, or must be reduced to a minimum in coordination with the component quality. In the case of equal economic and qualitative evaluation of disposable and reusable packaging, reusable packaging is to be preferred for ecological reasons.

Reusable packaging

Reusable packaging is a high-quality resource that has to meet a wide range of requirements in a continuous logistics chain.  Accordingly, they must be handled with care and must not be used for purposes other than those for which they are intended in order to ensure the longest possible life expectancy.

In principle:

Pool-capable reusable packaging (Euro pallet, mesh box, etc.) is preferable to non-pool-capable reusable packaging.

Both pallets and pallet cages must be in perfect condition. In case of damage or other deviations with regard to the EPAL exchange criteria, MULAG will refuse acceptance of the goods. Any resulting consequences (repacking, return, replacement, production disruptions, etc.) and associated costs are the responsibility of the supplier.
